You could easily imagine yourself as being part of a pirate movie whilst at Berlenga Island.
The peer, the cliffs surrounding the bay and the Lighthouse on the top of the hill make it the perfect landscape, in which to spend a marvelous day, hiking, snorkeling, swimming and kayaking.
This UNESCO biosphere reserve is a well-kept secret, and you can discover with us.

- After picking you up at your accommodation, we will head North of Lisbon to Peniche, a seaside city with an important fishing harbour now better known as the Portuguese Surf Capital;
- There we will take the boat out to Berlenga Island, 10 kilometers from the Peniche coast (the sea is often rough, making this trip a true adventure);
- At the Island, we'll climb the hills to the Lighthouse, an important aid to the boats sailing along the coastline, where you can enjoy the great views all around;
- Descend to theForte S. João Batista, an ancient fortress on the other side of the cliffs. Here we can visit the old fort, where Portuguese soldiers resisted to the big Spanish fleet, many times superior in numbers;
- Either by foot or boat, head back to the docks, where you can have lunch, swim or do some snorkeling;
- If the sea is calm enough, we recommend kayaking to explore the cliffs and its beautiful caves.
