Embark on a journey to discover the Knights Templar legend and feel like on the quest for the Holy Grail.
In this trip we will follow their footsteps and enter the secret world of these legendary Knights.
You’ll find the Holy Grail on a boat ride in the Tagus River, landing on a small island with a castle on top at Almourol… this is only one of the many secrets we will share with you on our Templar River day!
- We’ll pick you up where you’re staying and leave Lisbon;
- Then we’ll start a road trip to Tomar which take us about one hour. When there, we will go directly to the Templar Castle and the Convento de Cristo Monastery and get amazed by this magnificent building filled with Portugal richest history;
- Descent to the city of Tomar and visit the old town passing by the ancient Synagogue, the oldest in Portugal. You’ll have the chance to walk around and find some of the most unique buildings in the city, as well as some free time to enjoy your lunch;
- Leaving Tomar, we’ll head on to Constância, where Luís de Camões (the most famous Portuguese poet) is said to have lived. Enjoy the magnificent views of the Tagus River while descending the road to Tancos;
- At Tancos, take a small boat and navigate the calm Tagus waters to the unique Almourol Castle island, where you’ll have some more free time to explore the surroundings;
- Then, take the beautiful roads that follow the Tagus River south, crossing the Ribatejo plains and passing by Golegã (horse riding capital of Portugal) and Santarém (gothic capital of Portugal), before taking the return route back to Lisbon.
