How is the climate in Lisbon?

 

The weather is sweet in Lisbon! We have mild winters and warm to hot summers.
Generally, a typical summer season lasts about 4 to 6 months, from May/June to September/October. Three months – November and March/April – are transitional, December, January and February are the coldest months, but among all metropolises in continental Europe, Lisbon has one of the warmest winters.
Rain occurs mainly in winter, the summers being generally dry. 
Sunshine hours are about 2,800 per year, from an average of 4.6 hours of sunshine/day in December to an average of 11.4 hours of sunshine/day in July.
The average annual temperature is 21°C (70°F) during the day and 13°C (55°F) at night. Average annual temperature of the sea is 17.5°C (63.5°F).

Lisbon time zone is GMT 0, the same in London and one hour less than central Europe.

 

What is the currency used?

 

The official currency is the Euro (€).

 

What is the cost of living in Lisbon?

In general terms the cost of living in Lisbon is lower than the European average.

 

What are the forms of payment?

Most of the restaurants, hotels accept common credit cards, but don’t expect credit cards to be accepted in smaller restaurants and hostels.
Be sure to carry small bills. There are places that it can be a problem to change bigger notes. Most banks accept Visa/MasterCard, and have employees who speak English or French.

 

Will I be able to use cash machines to withdraw money?

There are plenty cash machines everywhere in Lisbon.

 

Do mobile phones work?

Yes, mobile phones work perfectly everywhere in Lisbon. 
There are a few areas where the signal is not good, but that is mostly out in the countryside, well away from any buildings.

 

Can I get broadband connection to the Internet?

Yes. Most accommodations have Wi-Fi and there are many hotspots in Lisbon and at the airport.

 

What is the Voltage, Frequency and plug type in Lisbon?

Electricity in Portugal is 230 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second. If you travel with a device that does not accept 230 Volts at 50 Hertz, you will need a voltage converter.
Outlets in Lisbon generally accept two round pin plugs.

 

What about health care?

Portugal and Lisbon in particular have a good health care system, both with public hospitals and private clinics.
All municipalities have pharmacies that provide almost every type of medication.
Pharmacies regular schedule is from 09h to 18h, but in case of emergency there are some pharmacies that are opened every night and also on the weekends.

 

Do I have to worry with safety issues in Lisbon?

With a low crime level, we consider Lisbon to be a safe destination, where the majority of the population is friendly and hospitality. However and like everywhere we advise to take some care with your personal belongings.

 

What are the documents needed to get in and out Portugal?

For European Union citizens the identification card and/or passport are needed.
For other foreign countries citizens a passport and a touristic visa may be required to enter Portugal, but in this case will be requested by Customs in Lisbon airport.

 

Is there any travel insurance included on your programs?

Yes, there is a travel insurance included in our tours covering any accident you may suffer either on transportation or in our activities, as well as any damage caused to third parties, according to the Portuguese laws and the terms of the license by the Portuguese Tourism Institute.

 

How to make a reservation?

To make a reservation you may contact our call-center or fill the booking form in the website.

 

What is the information needed to make a reservation?

Make your request with the most details possible, informing:
The name of the Tour desired;
The date for the tour;
Number of participants, complete names and contacts (for insurance purposes) of everyone.

 

How can I make a payment?

We are developing other forms of payment (online credit card) but for the time being we can only accept: Bank Transfer (if booked in advance) or Cash (euros) if booked directly, as forms of payment.

 

Can I change or cancel my reservation after it is fully confirmed and paid?

Although we strongly recommend otherwise, yes it is possible to change or cancel (with penalty fees, see our terms and conditions chapter) a reservation after it is paid.
