The Lisbon View Tour is the best way for you to know Lisbon: we will take you on a chronological journey, showing you some of the most beautiful views over the city, that will help you understand how Lisbon was founded and developed!
Lisbon is an ancient city, filled with History and secrets, and you will learn most of them while visiting amazing places like the Castle Hill, Belém, Baixa and Chiado districts.
By the end the day you will know so much about the city that you'll officially become
an Alfacinha (born Lisboner).
- We’ll pick you up where you’re staying and start our ride into the city;
- Beginning by the place where Lisbon was born, the Castle Hill, you'll discover about the Phoenician and the Romans who inhabited the area, and the wall that the Moors built to defend themselves, before the christian conquest of the city by King Afonso Henriques (first King of Portugal);
- On the way down the hill you'll have the chance to visit the Sé de Lisboa (Lisbon Cathedral), which was built right after Lisbon was conquered, in the XII century, as a way to implement the christianism;
- After understanding how Lisbon was created, you'll take a time leap into the Discoveries period, in the XV century, and visit the most famous landmarks from that age: the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery;
- You will have free time to lunch and taste the delicious Pastéis de Belém (Custard Tart) in the Belém District, one of the most noble neighborhoods in the city;
- Moving into the XVIII century, and returning to the city center, you'll follow the Águas Livres Aqueduct (which survived the 1755 earthquake) until the main reservoir, called Mãe de Água. Here you will have a taste of how is a traditional Lisbon neighbourhood;
- Then it will be time to follow the Tram 28 route to the Chiado and Baixa districts, where you'll learn about the reconstruction of the city after the big earthquake and its expansion to the Chiado hill, in the XIX century.
